"Beginning is Half Done"

This is the first of firsts for me. I just came to know that I could reach a lot of people with this medium. I am not really a writer but I do need to vent my mind and unload what's in it somewhere. I got my blog title from a slogan in a book authored by Ptr. Robert A. Schuller, the pastor emeritus of The Crystal Cathedral. The same pastor who was with a former Philippine president's bedside when he died in Hawaii.

Reading is one of my hobbies along with watching good movies. I have this lingering thought in my mind to write a book. But owing to time constraints and the need to work, I have postponed this idea for years. When I read this slogan, it hit me hard in the senses because these four words has a wallop.

Procrastination is something that we all have. Putting off for tomorrow something that we can do now. It is called the "maƱana habit". A trait that we got from the Spaniards when they colonized us for 333 years. Now this simple slogan rams home the reality that if we start to do something that we have planned then we have to start it at once. By this, we make a big leap in the completion of the thing.

Procrastination is a habit that is difficult to break because we always put it up front. When we do this we lose the sense of urgency and the importance of the task at hand. We fight and struggle but the long exposure that we had in such a practice makes us dismiss it as a force of habit. When we learn to subdue this bad trait we discover that we really have completed half of that task. So if you plan  to do  something, begin.

Now these words that I have written here are first and foremost for me because I am guilty of this.

It could be yours too if you like.
